About U2
U2 je irská rocková skupina, která vznikla roku 1976 a stále působí na hudební scéně, a to ve stále stejné sestavě. U2 se stala legendou rockové scény a jejich největší hity se hrají v radiích ještě dnes. Jejími členy jsou Bono (zpěv, kytara), The Edge (kytara), Adam Clayton (baskytara), Larry Mullen Jr. (bicí). I když je zde bubeník vypsán na posledním místě, měli bychom si uvědomit, že U2 vděcí vlastně jemu za vznik kapely. Nevěděli jste to? Pročtěte si historii kapely.

HISTORIE
Vše začalo roku 1976 vyvěšením plakátu na školní vývěsce, na kterém stálo "Bubeník hledá muzikanty pro založení kapely". Je tedy zřejmé, že první krok k založení U2 udělal bubeník Larry Mullen. První zkouška proběhla 25. září 1976 u Larryho v kuchyni a kapela, která zde vznikla, nesla jméno Feedback (zpětná vazba). Nyní však ještě žádné jejich hity nevznikly, protože Feedback hráli pouze převzaté věci. Sami dokonce uznávají, že jim to moc nešlo. Nicméně i tak vyhráli roku 1976 školní talentovou soutěž se svou verzí písně Show Me The Way od Petera Framptona. Roku 1977 přišlo na řadu přejmenování skupiny na The Hype (Humbuk nebo také poprask, očekávání). Pod tímto názvem hráli v klubech coververze např. od Sexpistol nebo Clash. Od roku 1978, po odchodu pátého člena kapely - Dika Evanse (bratr Edge), známe skupinu pod názvem U2. Od této doby svůj název ani složení kapela nezměnila. Kapela zpočátku čerpala inspiraci z punku, posléze si vytvářeli vlastní sound.
Důležitým milníkem je datum 17. březen 1978, kdy U2 vystoupili na den Sv. Patrika na přehlídce talentů ve městě Limerick a zvítězili. Za své vítězství si odnesli 500 liber a čas ve studiu pro nahrání demosnímku, který si poslechnou lidé z irské pobočky CBS. Tento okamžik můžeme nazvat Startem U2. Hned v dubnu téhož roku skupina nahrála svůj první demosnímek v dublinském studiu Leystone.
Rok 1979 se stal rokem, kdy U2 vydávají své první EP pod názvem U2 3 (nebo také Three). Tato deska vyšla v září a obsahovala pouze 3 hity: "Out of Control", "Boy/Girl" a "Stories For Boys". Dostala se na první místo irské hitparády. V prosinci se konalo několik koncertů v Londýně, nicméně stále ještě bez vážného zájmu publika a kritiků. V prvním nákladu vyšlo pouze 1000 individuálně číslovaných kopií, proto se z této EP desky stala rarita. 5. října 1979 hráli U2 svůj první televizní koncert pro irský kanál RTÉ v sále opery v městě Cork. Tento rok byl pro U2 důležitý. Mimo vystupování v televizi točili demosnímky a těšili se rostoucí přízni hudebních periodik. Povědomí o kapele stále rostlo.
